Skin tag removal

Most people are amazed at how quickly we are able to remove skin tags and wonder why they have put up with them for so long! All skin tags are removed permanently, with just a pink mark on the skin after treatment, after which there is a return to normal skin colouration.

This is one of our “see and treat” services where we are able to provide swift treatment and you then return to work or go home. We remove skin tags at very affordable prices to assist budget-conscious patients.

What are skin tags?

Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths that hang off the skin and look a bit like warts.

They’re very common, harmless, and can vary in colour and size – from a few millimetres up to 5cm (about 2 inches) wide. But they grow larger and can become very troublesome and unsightly, especially around the neck and face.

Skin tags are usually found on the neck, armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts. They can also grow on the eyelids where they can impair vision, or under the folds of the buttocks.

Skin tags can appear smooth or irregular, and may be attached to the skin by a short, narrow stalk called a “peduncle.”

What causes skin tags?

Doctors don’t know for certain what causes tags, but skin rubbing against skin may play a role, since the growths usually occur among skin folds. Obese people tend to have more skin tags, probably caused by skin friction.

Unsightly skin tags on face, eyelids or neck

Tags on the neck and cheeks can easily and quickly be removed virtually painlessly with our Co2 laser, and we have great success with skin tags on eyelids and close to the eye, where tags grow larger with time.

As with all our laser treatments there are no scars and in just a few days all signs of the lesion have disappeared.

Skin tags are made of loose collagen fibers and blood vessels surrounded by skin. Collagen is a type of protein found throughout the body.

Both men and women can develop skin tags. They tend to occur in older people and people who are obese or have type 2 diabetes.

Pregnant women may also be more likely to develop skin tags as a result of changes in their hormone levels. Some people develop them for no apparent reason.

When skin tags can be a problem

Skin tags are harmless and don’t usually cause pain or discomfort.
However, you may consider having skin tags removed if they’re affecting your self-esteem, or if they snag on clothing or jewellery and bleed.

They interfere with eyesight especially on the eyelid.
